ပါဠိ (Pāli) ဟူသည် အိန္ဒိယတိုက်ငယ်အတွင်းရှိ တိုင်းရင်းလူမျိုးတို့၏ မိခင်ဘာသာစကားတစ်မျိုးဖြစ်၏။ ဤဘာသာစကားကို ကျယ်ကျယ်ပြန့်ပြန့်လေ့လာမှုပြုကြရာအကြောင်းအရင်းခံမှာ ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာ၏ အဖိုးတန်စာပေများဖြစ်သော ပိဋကတ်သုံးပုံကို ပါဠိဘာသာဖြင့် စုဆောင်းသိမ်းဆည်းထားမှတ်တမ်းတင်ခဲ့ကြသောကြောင့်ဖြစ်သည်။

ပါဠိဟူသော စကားလုံးကို ထေရဝါဒဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာဝင်တို့အသုံးပြုခဲ့ကြသည်။ လေ့လာသူများအကြား ပါဠိဆိုသည့် စကားလုံး၏ အနက်ကိုဖွင့်ဆိုပုံခြင်းမတူသကဲ့သို့ ထိုစကားလုံးကို စာလုံးပေါင်းပုံခြင်းပင် မတူညီကြပါ။ R. C. Childers က ပါဠိဟူသည် "အစဉ်" ဟု အနက်ဖွင့်သည်။[3]

ပါဠိဘာသာစကားနှင့် ပတ်သက်၍ အနီးစပ်ဆုံးတွေ့ရှိရသော သမိုင်းအထောက်အထားမှာ အိန္ဒိယနိုင်ငံအနောက်ပိုင်းရှိ ဂူဂျာရတ်ဒေသမှ အသောကမင်းကြီး၏ ကျောက်စာတိုင်များဖြစ်သည်။[4]
