Windows 98

Windows 98 (codename Memphis[3]) သည် မိုက်ခရိုဆော့ဖ်၏ GUI စနစ်ပါသော ကွန်ပျူတာ စက်လည်ပတ်ရေး စနစ်တစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ ယင်းသည် Windows 9x series များထဲတွင် ဒုတိယမြောက် ပင်တိုင် release လုပ်ခဲ့သော ဗားရှင်းတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ ၁၉၉၈ ခုနှစ် မေလ ၁၅ တွင် ပွဲထုတ်ခဲ့သည်။ ယခင် Windows 95 ကဲ့သို့ 16-bit နှင့် 32-bit လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်သော hybrid အမျိုးအစားဖြစ်ပြီး[4] boot stage မှာ MS-DOS based ဖြစ်သည်။[5] Windows 98 နောက်ပိုင်းတွင် Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) အား ၁၉၉၉ ခုနှစ် မေလ ၅ ရက်တွင် release လုပ်ခဲ့သည်။[6] မိုက်ခရိုဆော့ဖ်သည် Windows ME အား ၂၀၀၀ ခုနှစ် ဇွန် ၂၀ တွင် ဗားရှင်းအသစ် ထုတ်ပြန်ခဲ့သည်။[7] Windows 98 နှင့် 98 SE အား ၂၀၀၂ ခုနှစ် ဇွန်လ ၃၀ ရက်တွင် ပင်မထောက်ပံ့မှု ရပ်တန့်ခဲ့ကာ ထပ်တိုးထောက်ပံ့မှုကို ၂၀၀၆ ခုနှစ် ဇူလိုင် ၁၁ ရက်နေ့တွင် ရပ်ဆိုင်းခဲ့သည်။[2] Windows 98 အတွက် နာမည်ကြီး startup sound ကို မိုက်ခရိုဆော့ဖ် အသံအင်ဂျင်နီယာ Ken Kato ဆိုသူမှ ဖန်တီးပေးခဲ့သည်။[8]
