NGC 165 သည် စီတပ် ကြယ်စုတန်းမှ ခရုပတ်ပုံစံ ဂယ်လက်ဆီဖြစ်ပြီး ၁၈၉၈ခုနှစ်တွင် ဝီလီယံ ဟာရှယ်က ရှာဖွေတွေ့ရှိခဲ့သည်။ ဂယ်လက်ဆီသည် NGC 164 နှင့် အိမ်နီးချင်းနီးစပ်သည်။
