NGC 258 သည် အင်ဒရိုမီဒါ ကြယ်စုတန်းမှ ဂယ်လက်ဆီဖြစ်ပြီး ၁၈၄၈ တွင် George Johnstone Stoney ဆိုသူက ရှာဖွေတွေ့ရှိခဲ့သည်။[1]
