ပန်းပု ဂလက်ဆီ (NGC 253) သည် Sculptor ကြယ်စုတန်းမှ အလတ်အလတ်တန်း ခရုပတ်ပုံစံ ဂလက်ဆီဖြစ်ပြီး ကြယ်တာရာများ မွေးဖွားနေသော ဂလက်ဆီတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။[1]နက်ဗျူလာ တောက်ပမှုအား တိုင်းတာသောနည်းလမ်းဖြင့် ခန့်မှန်းရာ အကွာအဝေးသည် အလင်းနှစ် ၁၀.၈၉ မီလီယံ ရှိသည်ဟုဆိုသည်။[2] ယင်းအား ၁၇၈၃ ခုနှစ်တွင် ကာရိုလင်း ဟာရှယ်က ဥက္ကာခဲများအား လိုက်ရှာနေစဉ် ရှာဖွေတွေ့ရှိခဲ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။[4][5] ရာစုနှစ်ဝက် ကြာသော် ဂျွန် ဟာရှယ်မှ ယင်းဂလက်ဆီအား ၁၈ လက်မအရှည် တယ်လီစကုပ်ဖြင့် ထပ်မံတွေ့ရှိခဲ့သည်။ ၁၉၉၈ ခုနှစ်တွင် ဟာဘယ် အာကာသ တယ်လီစကုပ်မှ လှမ်းကြည့်ရာ ပုံရိပ်များကို အသေးစိတ် မြင်ခဲ့ရသည်။[6] NGC 253 သည် အင်ဒရိုမီဒါ ဂယ်လက်ဆီပြီးလျင် ကောင်းကင်ယံ၌ ရှုမြင်ရ အလွယ်ကူဆုံး ဂယ်လက်ဆီများထဲမှ တစ်ခုဟု သုံးသပ်နိုင်သည်။[7]
